Rest your laurels in the diverse, spacious, community of Laurel, MD, just 21 miles north from downtown Washington, DC, and you’ll feel a little bit country and a lot that you’ve got the best of everything being in a major metropolitan area offers.

Laurel is an ideal family town that also provides much to do for singles, couples without kids and retirees.  The city is incorporated into Prince George’s County while outlying parts of Laurel lie in Anne Arundel, Howard and Montgomery counties.

Nestled on the Patuxent River, the city features a Main Street and old town, dating back to the early 19th Century when Laurel was a mill town.  Major employers include nearby John Hopkins University’s Applied Physics Laboratory, Fort Meade U.S. Army Base, the National Security Agency, University of Maryland at College Park and NASA Goddard Flight Center in Greenbelt.

Laurel condos for sale are affordable and larger than many you’ll find so close to DC.  Laurel condos for rent provide the same opportunities owners enjoy to indulge in the area’s offerings which require resident membership.  Lease a Laurel condo for vacation or short-term business contracts and you’ll be primed for DC life as well as country explorations and the Chesapeake Bay.

Laurel lies 10 miles north of College Park, nine north of Greenbelt, 21 south of Baltimore and 25 west of Annapolis, the state capital, along the Chesapeake Bay.  You’ll likely use BWI (Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall International Airport), south of Baltimore, or Washington National Airport for flying.

Take the MARC train to DC and you’ll find a whole new community of neighbors on board.  Or, take a DC Metrobus for your commute or downtown entertainment.  Better yet, perhaps, you’ll avoid rush-hour traffic.  If you work for the federal government, however, or employers with similar flex-time policies, you might be eligible for every other Friday off while working longer during the rest of the work week.  You’ll get to savor DC while coming home to a neighborhood that offers as much as many resorts.

Roughly 20,000 people call Laurel home.  Median income for a family is $59,000.

Laurel is a destination for Laurel Park Racecourse horse racing.  Live in a Laurel condo for sale and at your footsteps will be performing arts to savor, including the Laurel Mill Playhouse, Central Maryland Chorale and Montpelier Arts Center.  Enjoy LakeFest, the Main Street Festival, Independence Day events, RiverFest, Halloween’s “Trick or Treat on Main Street,” outdoor movies in the summer and activities at the Montpelier Mansion.

Make a Laurel condo for rent the place you hang your hat and you’ll relish so many community breakfasts and dinners you might have to work out often at the Fairland Athletic Complex, although you can also participate in a variety of runs and relays.  Throughout the year, penned on the Laurel calendar are buffet breakfasts at the Volunteer Fire Department and breakfast and dinners at the American Legion

Shop at the farmers’ market.  Skate at the Gardens Ice House.  Swim at several pools.  Or, tee off at the Gunpowder Course.  Discover a whole new world at the Patuxent National Wildlife Center.  You’ll be busy with friends, family and neighbors, but you’ll come back to your Laurel condo for sale or your Laurel condo for rent, and settle, cozy, in a quiet new home.
